Our mix this week is on a serious note in support of this weekends CIBC Run For The Cure, and features some of the best and powerful female voices in the independent music scene.

This year in Canada, it is estimated that 22,300 women and 170 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and over 5,300 people will die from it.
On September 30, 2007, in 53 communities across Canada, thousands of Canadians will walk and run together in the name of finding a cure for breast cancer. In 2006, 170,000 people participated nationally, raising over $26 million for the cause.
This year help by showing your support by either registering as a participant or make a donation, and help in taking one step closer to finding a cure.

More On This Album
Set Yourself on Fire, provided the Montreal-spawned quintet with their international breakthrough, five years after the band was first hatched by the duo of Campbell and keyboardist Chris Seligman while they were living near-penniless in New York City. Now gold certified in Canada, Fire proved so enduringly popular in so many parts of the world that the band left on tour following its 2004 release and barely stopped for the next two years. Suddenly, this most sophisticated of pop groups was required to adapt to the life of something its members never expected to become: road warriors.

More On This Album
With its lineup solidified in 2004, Crash Boom Bang has ignited the Washington DC area with their crisp, pop-sensible anthems alongside a loyal following of music lovers young and young at heart. Crash Boom Bang scored a hit with their first single “Let It Out”, as their fans chanted them straight to the stages of monster radio festivals such as the HFStival and Warped Tour. Their unmistakable charisma, catchy riffs, and sing-along melodies have propelled Crash Boom Bang to the national spotlight with strong support from radio stations such as DC101, 98 Rock, XM Radio, and Baltimore’s Legendary WHFS. The rest of 2007 has the band working closely with producer Tom Higgenson (Plain White T’s) in the studio to record their highly-anticipated full-length, due out in 2008.
“Why isn’t CRASH BOOM BANG signed to a major label? We don’t know- but they [are] amazing. They are one of our favorite new bands…they’ve got the sound & killer songs.”
-Jason Nevins (Music Producer)
